I would like to thank Tim Geithner for this posting opportunity. Leave it to an Obama nominee to blame it on something other than one's own self. To be fair, Geithner did make some heartfelt remarks and quasi-apologies for this tax blunder at his confirmation hearings.
Now, I am a reasonable person. So if I failed to pay the full amount of my taxes back in 2001, I wouldn't wait until I was about to be nominated to be the Secretary of the Treasury to pay those taxes.....8 years later! It's one thing to mess up, it's another to mess up and then ignore it for almost a decade.
And this is the guy we want running our Treasury Department? I heard a rumor that if an IRS employee messes up like that on their income taxes they can no longer work for the IRS. Double standard alert!
